- Raphael created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (May 1984)
- In Mirage stories, Raph is the angriest and most violent one on the team, but grows to understand Leo’s leadership
- Becomes mutated into a dinosaur-like creature after being attacked by a vampire
- Image Comics - becomes disfigured after getting blasted in the face, and wears a Casey Jones-like mask to cover his eye
- Then briefly took over the Foot Clan during an ongoing fight against the mob
- IDW - Separated from his brothers after the mutation, and lived on the street for a while
- Befriended Casey Jones after rescuing Casey from his father
- Reunites with his brothers and trains with them and Splinter, but quick to estrange himself from them during difficult times
